Sixshot asked me to give everyone an update on the hunt!
Here we are, one and a half days into their hunt and Brock and Mason have seen 5 bears; three yesterday, and two today. Yesterday, Brock and his dad Shane worked their way towards a Cinnamon phase bear that was feeding towards them. Brock took a shot but he saw the bullet strike below the bear, and it turned and hightailed it out of there! Mason and his dad Travis were trying to put the sneak on a chocolate bear that was feeding in and out of the pines, and, just like bears do, he vanished!
Dick and crew were taking a break for lunch, grabbing some chicken fried steak as an appetizer and washing it down with boysenberry pie before they head back out for an afternoon hunt!
No pictures for now, but if I know these Thompson boys, we will be seeing some bruins on the ground soon!
Stay tuned!!

So today I texted Dick and asked if he had any photos he wanted me to post in the update. He had a video that his grandson Ridge had taken through a spotting scope of a blonde phase bear feeding across an open field.... Here it is...hopefully it plays...
Before I had a chance to post this video, Dick sent me these photos...
Mason scored!!!
They have seen 9 bears in 2-1/2 days, and today Mason, the grandson that Dick gave his tag to, whacked this bear with his 270 as his dad Travis coached him through the shot.
Way to go Mason!
Mason and his proud dad Travis...
Dick is dancing the jig and loving every minute of this hunt! Now it's Brock's turn...Go Brock!

Video worked for me too. Did Dick say how far off the bear in the video was?
