Oregon45, standing by for a report!! Should have it up Saturday afternoon. I haven't started handloading for the .327 yet so the shooting will all be with American Eagle factory ammo. I'm anxious to see if I have any case splitting. I didn't with the same ammo in my .327 Single-Seven so I'm holding a good thought for the SP101.

Had mine out to the range this morning, but a proper range report will have to wait. 18 rounds in (all factory American Eagle), a pin in the crane came out and the gun locked up. Luckily the rounds were all fired, and the cylinder still rotates when the action is cycled, but the cylinder can't be opened up. Long story short, it's going back to Ruger to get the cylinder opened and the pin replaced. Other than that, it shot well with good accuracy at 15 yards considering the large fiber optic front bead. Recoil wasn't unpleasant but muzzle blast was pretty noticeable; this gun will do better with heavier cast bullets and more moderate velocities, I think, and I'm looking forward to handloading for it when I get it back from Ruger. Here's the pin that came out, luckily it landed just a few feet away and I was able to find it. Here's a picture of the crown:

Got to run a quick 24rds through mine this morning just to confirm it functions correctly. Had no issues with 85gr factory American Eagle ammo and all the pins stayed in place for now anyway. Recoil was much nicer than my same model in 357 mag.

I think the lack of recoil is one of the best things about the 327 Federal!

WITH THE FEDERAL EAGLE 100gr LOAD I WENT ALL THE WAY UP WITH THE REAR SIGHT ON MY RUGER 4.2 INCH 327 SP101 AND WAS STILL SHOOTING WAY LOW AT 25 YARDS. HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND A SOURCE FOR LOWER FRONT SIGHTS. UNFORTUNEATELY THE FRONT SIGHT DOVETAIL IS ODDBALL SIZE. IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE THAT CAN HELP?
