I have a full size .357 cylinder. I have done the math, you can open up the frame window and rechamber to 44 spl (or magnum). It should clean up the .357 chamber even though they have different hole spacing.

Magnum Wheelman, I did nearly the same thing with a Blackhawk in .45 Colt two years ago except it was me that loaded the double charge that cracked my cylinder. I sent the frame back to Ruger and they offered to keep it and sell me a new revolver at reduced cost. The gun had sentimental value to me so I declined. I bought a cylinder off gunbroker and it was a drop in fit. All the crucial dimensions were perfect. Now I have a stainless frame with a blued bisley cylinder. I keep my cracked cylinder on top of my reloading bench now to remind me of what I did back then.

First off, glad you and the rest of the revolver are OK!
A little lesson I learned was to never trust the ammo loaded in a Garand en-bloc when bought at a show unless it comes in a never opened USGI container. 10-12 years ago I bought a handful of loaded en-blocs at a show. Everything looked legit and the price was right but I didn't know enough to see if they were reloads. I'd fired 3-4 at the range when The Boy wanted to shoot. He was 12-13, somewhere in there so shooting the Garand was a big deal for him. He'd fired 3-4 rounds and the next one sounded odd and showered my arms with something as it ejected the brass. The neck had separated and my arms had unburnt powder on them (I was standing at about 4 or 5 o'clock monitoring him as he shot). Made sure the barrel was clear and a gunsmith friend who was at the gathering there with us got the neck out. I pitched the rest of the rounds and kept the en-blocs.
