Well, these Idaho cottontails aren't loving them too much, yesterday me & Callshot had another rabbit hammering contest & they took a severe beating. I took 5 with 5 shots using my 32 maggie & the 100 gr. cast slug using 3 grs of WST & Steve got 4 with 5 shots using his Single Seven 327 & the 115 gr. HP, this time loaded in 32 mag cases to hold the damage down a bit, it still turned them inside out. I'm sure he'll post some photo's. I haven't taken my Blackhawk 327 out because there aren't many Jackrabbits locally & my loads with the Ferminator HP bullet just make gravy out of cottontails.

Dick Yup this brings up the good point of matching your loads to your intended quarry, the 32 mag or 327 mag with a 100grish solid nosed bullet at 800-1000 fps is very effective on bunnies without destroying the edible meat. Now on a different day we might be carrying the same gun for vermin and a soft cast hollow point will sure work better for something like a coyote. Everyone has been pushing the 327 cartridge to its limits but if dinner is intended to be gathered with the gun we need to remember to carry lighter loads and know where they hit for your sights. But these are very forgiving and versatile guns and will make the change without blinking. I am tempted to try some different powders in my 32 mags to get the heavier bullets at a good velocity without the muzzle blast of H110. The loads I have work as is so if it works great if not I have proven loads now. The article has gotten me thinking again...

I've been looking for this magazine since this thread was started. The only store I've found so far that has hand loader magazine still has issue #293 and doesn't have the new one.

I subscribe and get the magazine generally a week or two before the newstands do in the grocery store. There is a Single Seven revolver on the cover... www.riflemagazine.com/home/index.cfm?CFID=44552483&CFTOKEN=73690929

Last week Walmart had the Dec-2014 on display, this week not any issue. I checked two different WM's. What other retailers carry the magazine? I will probley spring for a subscription but I don't want to miss this article.

I loaded up some .327 last night for the 4 5/8" Single Seven using the Missouri Bullet Company #1 Hi-Tek which is their 120 grain for the .32-20 but with a polymer coating. I used 5.0g of HP38 and an OAL of 1.471. The bullet was not quite to the end of the cylinder but it was crimped well in the groove. I ended up with 1210FPS and decent grouping but it was such a cold wind here in Oklahoma that I just shot for fun. The base pin jumped about every other shot.

The new Handloader will hit the shelves tomorrow in most stores. Quite a few guys are reporting the base pin jumping on the new 327's, its a pretty easy fix, or you can just order one from Klye at Belt Mountain. Whats the matter, you letting a little cold wind bother you, you know what I do, I stay home or shoot out the window of the truck!

Just downloaded my copy. Get some Wolff extra power base latch pin springs. That will help or resolve the base pin problem.
