Last year, I saw a Jurras Howdah at a table at NC's biggest gun show. Only one I've seen in person. I think it was a .475. Anywho, it got a lot of exposure and he left with it unsold at the end of the weekend. He had 50 pieces of brass that went with it, but no dies. He was keeping those as he had another gun in the same chambering. I think he wanted $1200. For whatever that is worth to you as a price point.

Thanks for the pics, I like that grip!
I'd never heard of the Jurras Howdah so I did some quick searches last night. Considering a Howdah is usually a double barrel, I don't see what makes them different from a big bore T/C?

I know this may be a funny funny question buthow could I get my hands on some ammunition for something like this? I love shooting but I'm just not much of a collector.

Traditional Britisg tiger hunting calibers. The original Howdah were back up guns for hunting tigers off of elephants. They were to stop a tigeras it was about to eat the hunter.

That makes alot of sense. My brother in law said that his grandfather (who handed the gun down to him when he passed) was in to bringing elephants to the US from south Africa. Thank you for your answer I always wondered if it was used in those recoveries. Puts a great story behind the weapon thank you again.

Well I spoke with my brother in law last night, he said that he knows for a fact that it was never used for that but it was cool to think it was he's going to fill me in on the story during our Christmas vacation to Florida this year. I'll keep you all updated if you'd like. Thanks fir all the interest.

If any of you are interested in owning this piece I am willing to sell just make me an offer. I would like it to go to somebody who will display it and let others enjoy it the way it should be. It just sits in a case under my bed and it needs to be shown.

What's the parent case for these? The 500 nitro express was the parent case for all of the Jurras Howdah's as far as I remember
