He is always willing to give a needed opinion There's some truth to that part of your statement for sure!! He's been one of my best friends for a long time as well and here's to many more pal! Now if we could just find a centrally located spot to meet up soon, you know like south TX.... Looking back, it's been three years and I'm still thankful I have no money for him to spend!

He's a gruff SOB, but that's mostly just a front, he's truly got a heart of gold. His ideas are based on a lot of years wearing a badge. He's a damn good gun crank too.
And he's fast too...there's a great story about him literally kicking a gun to a perp and saying "I'll make you famous..."
I'm proud to call him a friend and brother.

When I first retired in 2006 we decided to spend the winter in Texas because we had been stationed there during my Air Force Days. We picked Fredricksburg & Bandera, splitting the winter between the two hill country towns not far from San Antonio. A short time before that I had met Fermin on the old Sixgunner forum & we had chatted several times but had never met. Sometime during that winter Fermin had made a trip up near San Angelo, Texas to visit friend Mark Hargrove & do a bit of shooting. On his return trip he stopped by our RV park & we spent the afternoon visiting, eating, talking guns & looking at some amazing leather he had just received from a guy I had never heard of, a guy named Mike Barranti. The leather was a South West Hunter Rig & it was absolutely stunning! Since that time Fermin has became a close & trusted friend, if he likes you he has your back & he is fiercely loyal to all his friends, if he doesn't like you, looking into those eyes takes a lot of nerve! Two things happened that day when I met Fermin, I met one of my all time favorite people & also, a short time later met Mike Barranti & the rest is history, two friends for life, I wouldn't change a thing except to have them live closer to Idaho. One is a walking reloading manual who has an uncanny ability to visualize projects in his head & then make them happen. The other has taken the crafting of leather to new heights, some of us believe to a level never before seen in this life time.

As I re-read this old thread,,, I smiled & knew that true friendships have been born here. While I've never met 2 Dogs,,, We've conversed vie emails a few times & I've sat back & seen his wisdom shine as well. Maybe one day I can meet him, shake his hand for his service while wearing a badge, & buy him a cool beverage of his choice as I sit & listen to those words of wisdom. Or, he may just grab this coon wrangler by the neck & shake him until he squeals!

Well let's not let this silliness get out of hand. Rest assured I'm still just me. Even though I am currently working on the .257 Jackrabbit, I have yet another special project in mind. Or two. Or three..
This past year has been a tough one with all the rain and high winds and such. But one has to keep moving forward. I gotta do my part to keep the lights on at Doc's and Harton's shop don't you see. Somebody has to keep a leash on Swaggart. Pulling Sixshots and Tanks chain takes a stout hand as well.
