David, Fascinating memories. Wish I could have made it to 2nd Chance, never did. Did have some success in local pin shoots, usually with Colt Series 70 .45 and my IPSC handload, but once with a Colt Buntline with .44 Spl factory loads. That was a ball.

Is this the gun that Charles Bronson used in his last "Death Wish" movie, and also Clint Eastwood in his last "Dirty Harry" role?

Jon.... amazing dope on the "Magmatic only" .45 Colt. Time for us to touch base. Am well aware of compressed powder "caking." Dick Casull also "caked' powder. And I've done a bit myself; didn't pursue it. However, am at a disconnect on the Marlin. Federal blew a Marlin with a load I shot in a revolver. From a revolver, it cratered half-inch mild steel at 100 meters.
Scott Ambler and bagdadjoe..... the bowling pin shoots were, emphatically, a party. David Bradshaw

Believe those were Automags. Yea, that's right. From WIKI,,, Severe underpricing of the Auto Mag pistol to indicate huge market demand to potential investors made success impossible. A final analysis showed that the Auto Mag Corporation lost more than $1,000 on each pistol; each pistol sold wholesale for around $170. The pistols originally sold retail for $217.50. Used Auto Mag pistols now sell for around $3,000–$4000.[5]
